Frantz Fanon experienced both colonialism and otherness, both as a Martinican mixed-race man and as an Algerian. After becoming a psychiatrist, he spent years working on the issue of colonial alienation and the means to escape it. In this study, we would like to explore Fanon’s notion of identity and alienation and understand the role of his commitment to an independent Algeria. Why did you choose this particular struggle? What role did it play in the process of identity awareness that so fascinated Fanon ?
