Politiques migratoires et accueil de l’Autre : quelles implications pour les sociétés contemporaines ?

Abstract

Migration today challenges the ability of contemporary societies to welcome the Other in an interconnected world marked by fear, closure, and the fragility of social bonds. At a time when borders are hardening while interdependence continues to grow, migration policies expose deep contradictions between sovereignty, humanitarian discourse, and ethical responsibility. From a philosophical perspective, this paper examines the ethics of hospitality through the works of thinkers concerned with alterity. It argues that migration constitutes a decisive test for modern moral and political consciousness, revealing the tension between the ideal of unconditional hospitality and the reality of conditional inclusion. The paper further maintains that a re-foundation of the political grounded in the recognition of the Other remains essential to reimagining an authentic form of living together beyond borders and fear.

Résumé

La migration interroge aujourd’hui la capacité des sociétés contemporaines à accueillir l’Autre dans un monde interconnecté et traversé par la peur, la fermeture et la fragilité du lien social. Dans un contexte où les frontières se durcissent tandis que les interdépendances s’accroissent, les politiques migratoires reflètent les contradictions entre souveraineté, humanitarisme et responsabilité éthique. Inscrit dans une perspective philosophique, cet article propose une réflexion sur l’éthique de l’hospitalité à partir des pensées de Levinas, Derrida, Arendt, Fassin, Sayad, Mbembe, Glissant, Maalouf, Appiah et Bidima. Il montre que la migration constitue une épreuve de la modernité morale et politique, révélant la tension entre l’idéal d’un accueil inconditionnel et la réalité d’une hospitalité sous condition. L’article soutient qu’une refondation du politique sur la reconnaissance de l’Autre demeure essentielle pour ré-inventer un vivre-ensemble authentique au-delà des frontières et des peurs.
