The effectiveness of the pricing policy applied to water and purification services in Algeria

In the context of water scarcity, water pricing is an economic tool that can contribute positively to the management of water demand. Establishing an effective and fair pricing policy can affect the quantities of water used and consumed and reduce waste and misuse. The water pricing system in Algeria has known several policies, which change with the change of governments or laws, where it has risen significantly from a standard one to a regional one for the pricing of drinking water, as well as the water used for agriculture, but these prices remained ineffective and unable to cover the total costs of production.
