Economic Reforms and Standards of Living Problematic Development of methodologies for assessing the impact of macroeconomic reform
Abstract
Most developing countries, especially in Africa and many Latin American countries, are experiencing an increase in poverty levels, and the same is true for many countries in Asia. Many of these countries have undertaken economic reforms, stabilization programs and structural adjustment programs, often with the support of the Burton and Woods Foundations (the Fund The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank), and these programs were often initiated after economic crises.
