Abstract

We have been studied the yield and chemical composition of leaf essential oils of Tetraclinis articulata (Vahl) Masters, harvested from the same individual tree in Aïn Kebira of Tlemcen Province (North-western Algeria), at different phenological stages for one year (one sample per month), from March 2014 (full flowering) until February 2015. The twelve essential oil samples obtained by hydrodistillation, were analyzed by GC(RI). The essential oil yields varied drastically from one month to another, ranging between (0.16 to 0.66%) with the most important values observed for December and June. The composition remains qualitatively homogeneous but present quantitative differences. Bornyl acetate (8.6-41.1%), α-pinene (11.1-24.6%) and camphor (2.2-16.4%) were the main compounds in all samples.
