Abstract
The interrelationship between orthodontic and periodontal disciplines is well established. For orthodontic treatment to be carried out under the best possible conditions, it is essential to follow a coordinated approach between the orthodontist and the periodontist. The integration of periodontal surgery in the preparatory phase of orthodontic treatments constitutes an essential therapeutic lever for optimizing aesthetic and functional results, without causing irreversible damage to teeth and periodontal tissues. This article highlights the benefits of using periodontal interventions before the start of orthodontic treatment, based on a series of representative clinical cases.
