The tasks of the psychologist in the field of sport between theory and practice

Objectif : The study addressed the tasks of the sport psychologist in the sports environment, focusing on the gap between theoretical training and field practice.
Method : The study focused on the significant discrepancy between the academic training of the sport psychologist (at universities or institutes) and their practical fieldwork.
Result: This study reached a number of results that can be summarized as follows:
- There is a significant gap between the academic training and the field practice of the sport psychologist.
- The sport psychologist plays essential and critical roles in improving athletes’ performance.
- There is an urgent need to employ and train sport psychologists within the Algerian sports environment
